Around Campus, In the Community

More than 4,000 people have used Fort Worth Bike Sharing to ride 53,500 miles since it launched in April, burning nearly 2 million calories and saving 2,600 gallons of gasoline.

Bikes have been checked out nearly 200 times from our station outside the Center for BioHealth near the intersection of Camp Bowie Boulevard and Boland Street. Click to see a campus map.

Whether you’re using Bike Sharing or your own vehicle, you can check out a helmet at the Lewis Library. Helmets will be sanitized between uses.

A helmet can protect you from serious injury. Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price knows about it firsthand.

A year ago she was knocked unconscious and suffered a broken collarbone and concussion while cycling. She made a full recovery. “I’m really glad I was wearing the helmet,” says Price. “I wear it each and every time I ride, no matter how short the trip. I urge everyone to use a helmet, every ride.”

The Library serves the public as well as the university. Members of the public can borrow items from the Library, including bicycle helmets, with either a TexShare card or a guest membership with Lewis Library ($25 annually).

Because UNTHSC is a founding sponsor of Fort Worth Bike Sharing, employees and students can purchase annual memberships at a 25 percent discount, reducing the price to $60 rather than $80.

The first 30 people who bring a receipt to UNTHSC Marketing Manager Amy Buresh Schnelle amy.buresh@unthsc showing they’ve purchased an annual membership will receive a free UNTHSC branded bike helmet.

To purchase your annual membership:
