UNT Health Science Center won two prestigious awards during this week’s annual conference of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District VI, held in Fort Worth.
The UNTHSC Community Engagement Department received the Gold Accolade Award for Best Annual Giving Campaign for the 2012 Campus Pride “Power of One” campaign. Campus participation and donations helped Campus Pride raise a record amount for scholarships and the Fund for Excellence. UNTHSC spent only $8,000 to raise nearly $237,000.
Also at the CASE conference, Danny Jensen, UNT Associate Vice Chancellor and UNTHSC Vice President for Governmental Affairs, was honored with the Distinguished Career Award. Jensen helped pave the way for UNTHSC’s evolution from a small osteopathic medical school to a major force in creating solutions for a healthier community.
Jensen was instrumental in establishing the Center for Human Identification and helped UNTHSC garner the Gibson D. Lewis Library, Texas’ only school of public health at the time, the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, the School of Health Professions and the UNT System College of Pharmacy.
