Budding authors can learn the latest on publishing from experts at symposium

Faculty and those who want to learn about new publishing methods, author’s rights and ways to preserve intellectual assets can attend a symposium in downtown Fort Worth on Friday, Feb. 26. Register by 5 p.m., Friday, Jan. 29, to be entered into a prize drawing.

UNTHSC employees honored with Service Awards

On Jan. 26, the UNT Health Science Center honored 163 employees who reached 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 years of service with the UNT System.  Employees reaching these milestones were honored with certificates and pins marking their anniversaries.

Our latest roundup of UNT Health Science Center employee and student accomplishments includes a professor named an Officer of the Order of Canada, a new chair of Cell Biology and Immunology, students raising money for cardiovascular health, and much more.  If you see these folks on campus, give them a high-five.

Health Science Center closed for MLK day

The UNT Health Science Center and clinics staffed by UNT Health physicians will be closed on Monday, Jan. 18, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The campus and all UNT Health clinics will reopen for normal business hours Tuesday, Jan. 19. Lewis Library will have shortened service hours during the holiday weekend.

Eisenberg helps create CSI exhibit

Art Eisenberg, PhD, helped create the popular “CSI: The Experience” exhibit, on display at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History until May 2. Eisenberg is chairman of the Department of Forensic and Investigative Genetics and co-director of the UNT Center for Human Identification.

Crockett, Texas, builds home for TCOM students

The town of Crockett, Texas, population 7,000, has demonstrated its strong support for the UNT Health Science Center’s Rural Osteopathic Medical Education of Texas (ROME) program by building a home for the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine students who rotate through medical practices in the community.

The City of Fort Worth will use the UNTHSC East Garage for paid public parking again during this year’s Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo from Jan. 15 through Feb. 7.

Join UNTHSC at The Cowtown

Last year, 18,000 runners hit the streets of Fort Worth for The Cowtown, one of the nation’s largest multi-event road races. This year’s 32nd annual event is expected to be even bigger, and the UNT Health Science Center will again be a big part of it.
